LEGION AUXILIARY UNIT 615

NEWSLETTER

November 2004

Greetings  A.L.A. Members,

It has been a long time since our last Newsletter and I would like to let you know what is going on.  Although attendance at meetings is down we  have started into another year of Auxiliary Programs.  First of all let me introduce you to our officers for the 2004-2005 year.

President --Lillian Priebs

Vice Pres--None

Secretary--Joannie Lewis

Treasurer--Sherry Buffington

Historian--Lois Freitag

Chaplain--Dolores Widlak

Sgt. Arms--Jeannie Machara

Our Chaplain, Dolores was recently hospitalized after having a heart attack.  Our prayers and get-well wishes are all with you Dolores.

I was fortunate to attend my first convention for the Auxiliary this past summer.  Sherry was a delegate for the Eighth District and I accompanied her to Nashville for the 86th American Legion National Convention.  It was very informative. I learned a lot about the Legion and Auxiliary and meet other members from across this great nation.  Plans are already in the works for the 2005 Convention in Hawaii, this should be a lot of fun.

I would like to let you all know that I am very lucky to have Mary Barclay as my V.A.&R. Field Service Committee Person. I know she will keep us well informed as to what our veterans are in need of in the various homes and hospitals.

For Fund Raisers this year we are selling Magnetic Ribbons to put on your car, refrigerator, or where ever you would like to put them.  We have two different styles available:  Yellow & Blue, saying SUPPORT OUR TROOPS; or Red, White & Blue, which says God Bless America, these are going for $3.00 each and you can contact our Treasurer Sherry if you would like any of these.  Her phone number is 708-532-1260.

Our other Fund Raiser is the raffle of a Winter Scene Three Wick Candle Holder that can also function as a appetizer server, a dessert dish, or what ever you can think of (it would also make a great Christmas gift). Plus various other prizes will be included in this raffle.  I am enclosing a raffle book for all to participate.  Some of you may remember these books, the entire book is $10.00 or ten cents a chance.   We will need to have all books returned back to us before our meeting on the first of December in order to send the prizes to the winners by the Holidays.  Please use the enclosed self-addressed envelopes to return your raffle book.

The Post is having its annual Turkey Shot again this year on Saturday, November 20th.  Hope to see some of you there.

Sincerely,

Lillian E. Priebs
